Porovnanie týchto dvoch hudobných žánrov
Diskusie o tom, ktorý hudobný žáner je lepší sa vedú už dlhý čas a neraz vyústia do nezhôd a rozporov, často hip-hoperi nadávajú na metalistov a naopak, každý si vraví svoje a nepočúva toho druhého, a vraj že hudba spája.... Preto sa budem snažiť podať vám prezentáciu týchto dvoch štýlov tak, aby ste si spravili vlastný názor no určite vydedukujete z tohto textu aj môj individuálny názor. V každom prípade, ustavične ostane jedna strana vyznávajúca svoju hudbu nepochopená tou druhou.
Začnem hip – hopom. Prívrženci tohto hudobného žánru, ktorí sa vyskytujú aj v mojom okolí, majú dosť často spustené nohavice, tričko po kolená a tvária sa ako majstri sveta, veď oni sú predsa hip hop a kto je viac? Ich obľúbenci si nedávajú servítky pred ústa a v skladbách urážajú všetkých a všetko okolo seba prostredníctvom vulgárnych a hlúpych nadávok. A s rozvojom hip hop sa nanešťastie rozvíja aj mariuhana. Ťažko hiphoper pochopí, aký duševný orgazmus prežívam, keď vidím bubenníka ako bije po bicích, ako mu lietajú ruky, ako gitaristi hladkajú struny gitár a s neuveriteľnou rýchlosťou menia akordy. Ako niekto kto nedržal gitaru v ruke, nepochopí ,že sa na ňu nedá naučiť hrať za 5 minút, ale že sú to týždne a mesiace driny. Pre nich bude metal stále búchanie a škriekanie bez melódie.
Nevravím, že všetok hip hop je zlý, ale dávam prednosť gitarovým a bubnovým sólam, ako podmazu, ktorý je spravený na počítači, bez nejakého výraznejšieho zásahu ľudských rúk a rýmom, ktoré urážajú človeka ako jedinca alebo priamo celú spoločnosť. Hip hoperi neocenia tvrdosť a melodickosť Halloeween, alebo krásu starých pesničiek od Metallicy, či monumentálnosť hlasu speváčky z Nightwish. Jedným z dôvodov prečo ich nedocenia, je to, že ani nemajú záujem skúsiť to. Radšej budú pohlcovať a konzumovať to, čo hudobný komrčný priemysel vyvrhne na svetlo sveta a po mesiaci to odhodia, pretože sa im to v ušiach obohraje.
Netvrdím, že komerčná hudba je zlá, ale tento spôsob prevedenia hudby nedosahuje také kvality ako rocková alebo metálová hudba, ktorá je precízna, rýchla a dokonale synchronizovaná. Texty metalových skupín obsahujú motívy zla, moci a apokalypsy, poukazujú na skutočné problémy nášho života. Metal sa vyvinul ako reakcia na kultúru hippies, ktorá propagovala mier a lásku, svetlo nahradil temnotou a šťastný koniec populárnej kultúry nahradil holou pravdou, že veci sa nestratia len tak samé od seba. Napriek tomu, že priaznivci metalu tvrdia, že skutočným odkazom metalu nie je odvrátená stránka života, kritici vinia tento žáner z oslavovania temných aspektov reality.
